Paid Leave Program

Scheduled 32 hours or more per bi-weekly pay period.

Upon hire.  Staff members earn paid time off for each hour worked without any waiting periods.  Paid Leave Program is an allotment of time placed in two separate banks;  Paid Time Off (PTO) and an Income Protection Account (IPA).  PTO time can be used as vacation, personal, family needs or short term illnesses of 4 days or less.  IPA time is used for periods of illness on the 5th day of absence and any days thereafter for the same reason/illness.  Paid leave code depends on job title and length of service.
Paid Leave Program Cash Out

Scheduled 32 hours or more per bi-weekly pay period. Upon employment when there is the required number of hours accrued. Staff members may voluntarily cash out PTO hours at 100% of their value, at any time, in 8 hour increments.  The maximum number of hours that may be cashed out in any one year is 64 for full time and 32 for part time.  Every staff member must maintain a minimum number of hours before cashing out any hours; 72 hours for full time and 36 hours for part time. Staff members approaching 150% cap on their PTO time should consider cashing out hours.

Upon employment. Annual Holiday Party,  Staff Appreciation Meals, Staff Free Markets, Bus Trips, etc.
Retirement Plan

After 1 year and age 21. Part-Time employees must also have completed 1,000 hours of employment between July 1 and June 30. The Highlands at Wyomissing makes all required contributions to provide benefits under the Plan.  There are no deductions from your pay or contributions that you must make.  Monthly income for life after you retire at normal retirement age of 65 or early retirement at age 55 with 15 years of service or age 62 with 10 years of benefit accrual service.
Section 125 Spending Account Plan

1st of the month following hire. Provides you with the opportunity to use pre-federal tax dollars to pay for health, dental, or child care benefits.  Deducts premiums from your paycheck before Social Security, state and federal income taxes are deducted.
Service Awards

After 5 years, then every 5 years thereafter. Staff Members select their award choice depending on their years of service.  Awards are presented during the annual anniversary celebration luncheon.
Short-Term Disability

After 3 months of employment. Voluntary short-term disability protection is available to cover your salary for up to 3 months of disability. 
Social Security

Upon employment. Monthly payments for life at age 62 or 65 to 67 (depending on staff member's year of birth).
403(b)

Upon employment. Staff member payroll deduction. Enables you to build additional retirement income while deferring payment of federal income tax. A Roth option (post-tax) is available.
Terminal PTO

Scheduled 32 hours or more per bi-weekly pay period. Upon termination. Unused PTO is paid after employment ends.
Workers' Compensation

Upon employment. Financial assistance, if injured on the job. You must report the injury to your supervisor immediately and see a workers’ compensation panel physician if treatment is required.
