Berks Country Fest: Storytellers Session II

On Sunday June 23, The Highlands are hosting Berks Country Music Fest: Storytellers Session II: The Celtic Roots Music Fusion of Irish and Appalachian Mountain and Country Music Featuring Bracken & Ireland's Kevin Martin. Author Kevin Martin who is flying here from Ireland will offer commentary along with music by the band Bracken.
Having grown up in a house filled with American country records, Ireland’s Kevin Martin developed a wide knowledge and love of country music, but despite a proliferation of home-grown country music programs on Irish TV he knew very little about how country music had developed in Ireland until he began that research that led to his latest book, “A Happy Type of Sadness”. During this session, Kevin will talk about some of the legendary American and Irish musicians chronicled in his book with Bracken performing some of the songs and tunes that helped to make them famous.
